I have 17 years experience of business administration having worked in the
public and private sector during this time.
My first job on leaving school was working as a Secretary for local Government
and followed this path working for a number of organisations for 9 years. During those 9 years I completed an NVQ Level
2 and 3 in Business Administration as well as a number of RSA Examinations. I then joined the Department of Health as a Team
Secretary in 1999. Within 6 months I was seconded on promotion to the role of Business Manager working
with the NHS on the Mental Health National Service Framework. Thereafter I was promoted again to Assistant Research
Manager managing 120 projects within the South East Region.
My next job was working as a Business Manager leading a team of 6 staff
in a Business Unit commissioning research projects within the UK. Following this work being outsourced to a private
organisation I was given the opportunity to work as Project Support Officer to Lord Nigel Crisp as the Prime Minister's
Special Envoy. The focus of the project was to look at providing Health Service Support in Developing
Countries. I was also acknowledged in the report for my contribution. During my time working for Government I started
a course which would award a Certificate in Management with the Open University which I hope to complete later this year.
Following a redeployment process I was offered voluntary redundancy which
I accepted in early 2007. My last job was temporarily working for Bedfordshire Police as an Administration Manager until
October 2007. I then decided that I would like to run my own business and decided to look at possible options.
Having undertaken some research on homeworking roles, I learnt about Virtual
Assistants and decided that this would be a great area to work in, allowing a good work/life balance utilising
skills already gained in the business arena.
